Billing & Credits
ApexApi uses a pre-paid credit system. Buy credits, use them across any model, and only pay for what you consume.
How Credits Work
1. Purchase credits
Buy credits via Stripe in your dashboard. Credits are added instantly and never expire.
2. Make API calls
Each API call deducts credits based on the model's per-token pricing and your actual token usage. Costs are calculated at the end of each request.
3. Track usage
Monitor your balance and usage in real time from your dashboard. Every transaction is recorded in your credit ledger.
Purchase Amounts
Credits are denominated in USD and always 1:1 — a $50 purchase adds exactly $50.00 of credits. Buy any whole-dollar amount between $5 and $5,000, or pick one of the dashboard presets:
Pricing
Each model has its own per-token pricing. ApexApi applies a small markup over the provider's base cost to cover infrastructure and support.
Per-token billing
You are charged per input token (prompt) and per output token (completion). Prices vary by model and are listed on the Models page.
Transparent markup
Our pricing includes a 20% markup over the provider's base cost. This covers API infrastructure, rate limiting, logging, and support.
No hidden fees
No monthly subscriptions, no minimum commitments, no per-request fees beyond token costs. You only pay for tokens consumed.
Auto Top-Up
Never run out of credits mid-request. Enable auto top-up in your dashboard settings to automatically purchase credits when your balance drops below a threshold.
How it works: Set a minimum balance threshold (e.g., $2.00) and a top-up amount (e.g., $20.00). When your balance drops below the threshold, we automatically charge your saved payment method.
Credit Ledger
ApexApi uses an append-only ledger for all credit transactions. Every purchase, deduction, and adjustment is permanently recorded with a timestamp and description.
- Credit: Purchases, refunds, and adjustments.
- Debit: API call costs (calculated after each request completes).
- Balance: Running total visible in your dashboard and via API.
